Studies for Antibodies Distribution to Parainfluenza and Respiratory Syncytial Viruses among the Population in Seoul City, 1977

Abstract
Studies for antibodies distribution to parainfluenza and Respiratory Syncytial(R.S) viruses with 179 serum specimens which were collected from the normal population from less than 1 to 40 years and over old in Seoul City in 1977 has been carried out.
The used methods were hemagglutination-Inhibition (H-I) test for the parainfluenza virus, type 1, type 2, aand type 3 and Neutralization test for the R.S. virus. The results obtained were as follows;
1. Positive rates of H-I antibodies to parainfluenza viruses with total of 179 sera showed that 38% for type 1, 36% for type 2, and 55% for type 3 virus.
2. It was showed that H-I antibody positive rates and titers for parainfluenza virus types 1, 2 and 3 wer increased along with increased age groups.
3. Particularly, positive rates for type 3 of parainfluenza virus were increased from the low age groups and positive rates for type 1 and type 2 were delayed to increasing compared with type 3 antibody.
4. As fro the positive rates of neutralizing antibodies for R.S. virus indicated that 75% from among total of 179 sera and it was also showed clearly that positive rates and antibody titers were increased with increased ages and it was reached 100% of positive rate from above 40 years of ages.
5. Positive rates of neutralizing antibodies for R.S. virus by sex indicated that more than 10% of positive rate occurred from the female compared withe the male group.
